Dear Parents,

As we continue to celebrate our 60th anniversary this school year, we will be taking time to hear from some of our alumni about the impact that their time at Trinity had on their lives and how it prepared them. At this morning’s chapel, I had the opportunity to host another Trinity’s Talk of the Town with special guest Matt Reynolds who graduated from Trinity in 2010.

Matt shared that his time at Trinity was foundational in shaping his faith and helping him discover his passion for music and a love for God’s word. One of his favourite memories at Trinity occurred while he was playing the drums for a Trinity Talent show in the gym. While performing a drum solo, one of the cymbals fell over and came down with a crash. Despite the setback, he carried on with his song and finished his performance. He shared how this taught him to push through challenges and helped him to gain confidence. 

Interestingly enough, he is using his musical talents and gifts today, as he is a recording music artist and songwriter who regularly leads praise and worship at his church. What started off as a passion he discovered while at Trinity has turned into a career and ministry. 

I also asked Matt to share his favourite Bible passage and a few words of wisdom for our students. He went on to tell us that Romans is his favourite book of the Bible, particularly chapter 8, which contains these words “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” He reminded us that nothing can separate us from God’s love. He also went on to explain that in Grade 4 they were asked to pick a book of the Bible to review and his choice was Romans. This is what sparked his love for this book of the Bible all these years later.

Finally, I asked Matt to impart a few words of wisdom to our students. He explained that “You are never too young to learn about God and develop your relationship with Him.” What a great reminder and testament to the value of Christian education and the strong foundation that it provides for life. This is so evident in the way that Matt lives his life today as a husband and soon to be father. We are thankful that he took time out of his schedule to share his testimony with us.
