PRINCIPAL’S NOTE-
Dear Parents,
What a wonderful start we have had to the school year! One of the highlights each year is seeing so many of our families gather for our Welcome Coffee and Opening Chapel. There was a tangible excitement in the air as both new and returning families connected over warm drinks and united in worship together. This brings to mind the words of the Psalmist declaring: “Oh, magnify the Lord with me, let us exalt His name together!” Psalm 34:3.
After a particularly busy summer of renovations, we are especially thankful for God’s goodness to us, including many new staff members and families who have joined us. We are blessed to have more than 280 students and almost 175 families as part of our Trinity community this year, which includes 50 kindergarten students: our largest number ever in the history of our school.
As part of our chapel time, we unpacked our school theme to “Know It. Explain It. Live It.”, as it connects to 1 Peter 3:15-16a. In this verse, Peter admonishes us to share and explain the gospel, while living out our lives in a godly way as an act of worship to God. There is a clear progression in which we must know the Lord and His Word by being familiar with it, holding it as truth, and distinguishing between what is right and wrong. From there, we demonstrate our knowledge by explaining or teaching it to others, providing clarity and understanding of it, while also giving a reason for the hope we have. This can even include defending our position when questioned or opposing views come at us. In those moments, Peter highlights that our posture must be one of gentleness and respect. This is another way that we can stand out as Christians offering a humble response instead of brashness and arrogance.
The final progression is that we must live it out and demonstrate that we have taken God’s word to heart. This should have an impact on our lifestyle, shaping how we persevere when faced with adversity and how we respond to those we encounter daily. Our actions must match what we say we believe and we are called to proactively look for opportunities to share the gospel with others. In everything we do, we are to put Jesus first and look for ways to help others and lift them up.
The reality is that we cannot live out God’s words and principles on our own, but rather we need the Holy Spirit’s power to say and do what Jesus taught us. Paul puts it this way in 2 Timothy 1:13-14: “Hold fast the pattern of sound words which you have heard from me, in faith and love which are in Christ Jesus. That good thing which was committed to you, keep by the Holy Spirit who dwells in us.”
We pray that God will use this theme for His glory and bless the year ahead, as we put God’s word into action.
Blessings,
J-D Lussier, Principal
