Dear Parents,
I know that many of us were glad to put the year 2020 behind us and have been hopeful about what 2021 will bring. While I remain optimistic that great things are coming, the beginning of 2021 has not been any easier. Between the rising cases of COVID in Ontario and across our country along with the political unrest south of our borders, things still appear bleak on the surface.
More than ever, we need to be reminded that our hope is in Christ. As I shared in our Chapel Devotional, (Click here) Jeremiah 17:7 offers us these comforting words: “Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, And whose hope is the Lord.” There is no government leader, political party, vaccine, or financial solution that can solve our problems or that we should put our trust in. It is the Lord that will help us and see us through this.
As we look ahead to the coming weeks, I once again go back to this verse. We are ready and eager to welcome back our students on Monday; however, there is still much uncertainty as I write this, as to whether our government will allow us to resume our regular school activities. I pray that our government will make the right decision to keep our students safe physically, while also putting a priority on their mental wellbeing.
I am reassured that many highly qualified health care professionals are recommending that we resume in-person learning in our schools, as they have already seen how detrimental it is to students’ mental health and general wellbeing to learn exclusively in a virtual setting. May the Lord continue to grant us His wisdom and strength, as we stand firmly on His promises and put all of our hope and trust in Him.
