Oil & Dew: Symbols of Unity

Jan 31, 2019

Last Friday, I had the privilege to be part of the first meeting for our new Strategic Plan with our staff. It was such a blessing to be part of group where Christ was the focus of all we did. What particularly struck me about the day was the spirit of unity that dwelled among us, despite our various backgrounds and differences. As we invited God to lead us, there were so many themes that kept coming back.

As I reflected upon this over the past few days, I was reminded of a devotional that I heard a few years back at a prayer breakfast. The passage of scripture came from Psalm 133 and says, “How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity! It is like precious oil poured on the head, running down on the beard, running down on Aaron’s beard, down on the collar of his robe. It is as if the dew of Hermon were falling on Mount Zion. For there the LORD bestows his blessing, even life forevermore.”

The speaker went on to share that the oil on Aaron’s beard represented God’s anointing and blessing on His people, as Aaron was His priestly representative on earth. In order to be able to truly receive God’s blessing and direction, it was key that unity be the focal point. Furthermore, the imagery was solidified by the dew of Hermon, which represented the possibility of flowering, rich crops, as it kept the valley well-watered in times of drought; whereas the rest of the area that was untouched by the dew was covered by a desert climate. In other words, unity provides the optimal conditions for God to bless His people, regardless of their earthly surroundings.

With this in mind, we desire for the future of Trinity, and our kids, to be flourishing and thriving for God. We look forward to the next steps in our Strategic Plan, as we turn to the board and parent community for their input. We know that as we come together united under God’s leading, He will cause us to do great things for His glory.

Sincerely,
J-D Lussier, Principal
