Put your Thankfulness into Action

Oct 12, 2022

Dear Parents,

Take a moment to look around at God’s creation and the people in your life. From the vibrant colours of the leaves to the joyous sound of children running around the playground, we are surrounded by beauty. If you are like me, your heart can’t help being filled by a sense of awe at God’s goodness leading to thankfulness.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 tells us to, “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” This posture is what led us to take time in our chapel to express gratitude for all that God has given to us. Our students shared their gratitude for family, pets, food, shelter, and much more. We sang about the works of God’s hands and His faithfulness to keep His promises, leading us to give praise to our Creator. We read His word, which reminded us to give thanks to Him. We spoke to God, and thank Him specifically for His blessings.

While it is wonderful to use our words, we also know that God wants us to take action. In 1 John 3:17-18 we are reminded, “Now, suppose a person has enough to live on and notices another believer in need. How can God’s love be in that person if he doesn’t bother to help the other believer? Dear children, we must show love through actions that are sincere, not through empty words.” This is why we also brought forward a love offering. In this case, it was boxes upon boxes of food that will be delivered to the Burlington Foodbank to bless our neighbours who are less fortunate than us. We pray that it will be a blessing to those people and they will feel God’s love in return.

As you celebrate Thanksgiving this weekend, we encourage you to take time with your children to consider all the ways that God has blessed you, express thanks to Him, and put your thankfulness in action by blessing someone else.

Sincerely,
J-D Lussier, Principal
