Reflections

Jun 2, 2023

Dear Parents,

With the arrival of the month of June, we know that the end of the school year is fast approaching. For some, this signals a celebration of sorts, as a culmination of hard work and time well spent. For others, this carries a sense of loss or missed opportunities, whether due to falling short in an academic or social sense. When things in life come to a close, it leaves us with a mixture of emotions.

This is particularly the case when we consider the end of a life, such as the Bulthuis family has been processing and we too consider as we support them. There are some beautiful memories of a life well spent, while also leaving behind much loss and an emptiness. In those moments, we desperately need something to cling to. As people of faith, it is a particular word that sparks light in our darkness: HOPE.

When there is hope and a purpose to what we do, our perspective changes. In 1 Timothy 4:10, Paul encourages Timothy with these words, “That is why we labor and strive, because we have put our hope in the living God, who is the Savior of all people, and especially of those who believe.”  We know that the end of something is just the beginning of something else. Furthermore, we can trust that even better things are to come, whether on this earth or looking to eternity in heaven. We can also take comfort that the work we have done will produce good fruit, if we have done it as unto the Lord.

This stands in stark contrast to the world around us. In a society that is grasping for a sense of meaning and purpose while often languishing in hopelessness, we have a Hope found in Jesus. As we begin to reflect on this past year, we trust that a theme of hope will accompany your perspective and that together we can point to Jesus as the reason we do everything that we do each day at Trinity and generally in our lives. We pray that this is a source of encouragement to you.

Blessings,
J-D Lussier, Principal
