Remember Jesus this Christmas!

Dec 21, 2018

It’s here! The last school week of the calendar year and final days leading up to Christmas are upon us.

For most students (and possibly teachers too), this elicits excitement and happiness. Some might even call it pure joy, as the calendar turns towards the 24th and 25th. More often than not as adults though, we quickly lose that sense of joy, as we rush from place to place. Christmas can sadly become more of a burden and headache, due to the busyness and expenses related to the season.

Another emotion that is the all too common around Christmas is a sense of grief and loss. For those who have lost a loved one, Christmas can become one of the most difficult moments of the year and a reminder of better days gone by. While it is important to deal with those emotions, God offers us a great gift to counteract any sadness at this time of year. Luke 2:10-11 says, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.”

Sometimes we need to pause and remember the reason that we are celebrating. Jesus’ coming should provide a spark in us that ignites a joy that is stronger than any obstacle we face. Just as children have a carefree attitude and an innate joy built in during this season, we too should embrace this truth and let it carry us forward.

In closing, I would like to wish each of you a very Merry Christmas and blessed time with your family. As we enter 2019, my prayer for you is 3 John 1:2, “Dear friend, I hope all is well with you and that you are as healthy in body as you are strong in spirit.”

Blessings,
J-D Lussier, Principal
