Dear Parents,
With the election season upon us, the topic of leadership (or lack thereof depending on your particular point of view) is at the forefront of many conversations. While we have the privilege to vote and the duty to pray, we can often feel like we have limited ability to influence change or even alter the direction that our world is headed in. Sometimes it is easy to forget that we can begin to take small steps that will become a catalyst to large change in the future.
Take for example John F Kennedy who issued the following challenge on his inaugural day in office “Ask not what your country can do for you – ask what you can do for your country,”. What he was really saying was don’t wait to see what the government will do, but rather starting serving to see what kind of change you can bring. As Christians, I would take this a step further and substitute the word “country” with “God”. While we know that God does so much for us, we should be asking ourselves what we can do to serve Him and impact those around us.
Over the years, we have been blessed with many individuals who have done the same by looking for opportunities to serve in our community. They have stepped up by leading committees, serving on the Board, giving their time at community events, and much more. Not only did that help our community in that moment, but I would suggest it has had lasting value, as they modelled servant leadership to all of the little eyes that were paying attention to what they were doing.
As part of our Strategic Plan, we are attempting to model Responsible Stewardship by providing “a sustainable foundation, rooted in Christ, through faith-infused leadership, governance and finances.” In order to accomplish this goal, we need the next wave of servant leaders to step up and make a positive difference in our school. Perhaps you have the skill set to serve on our Board of Directors, lead one of our committees, sit on our finance committee, or be the point person at your church for Trinity. If you see yourself contributing to any of these areas or more, please connect with me, the office, or a Board member. We would love to have you partner with us in our leadership efforts. Ultimately, we want to inspire our students sitting in our classrooms by equipping them to lead both today and into the future.
