Small, but Mighty

May 19, 2022

Dear Parents,

Our theme today in chapel was “Small, but Mighty!” Our grade 3 students gave us some beautiful illustrations from nature as to how God has made some small creatures that accomplish some great tasks. A perfect example of this is the bee, which is a strong, resilient animal that pollinates most flowers and directly ensures that our crops can reproduce and be healthy. Because of their size, we can easily overlook their significance and value to the larger ecosystem.

Our children can sometimes feel like that as well. Although they are small in comparison, they too can accomplish great things individually and collectively through God’s leading. Our grade 3 students provided us with some practical examples of ways they are serving and making a difference, even at their age. This served as a motivator for all of our students that they too can make a positive impact.

We also looked at the story of David, who was young but courageous. Despite his youth, he had an enormous confidence in God that was shaped by his days tending sheep in the field, including fighting lions and bears. He knew that with God on our side, we can accomplish great things and face enormous challenges. In David’s case, God gave him victory over a literal giant that opposed him and the Lord.

We too are faced with giants and mountains each day that need to be overcome. We often feel small, weak or insignificant, but can move forward with confidence when we consider who is on our side. In 1 John 4:4, we find these words: “But you belong to God, my dear children. You have already won a victory over those people, because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world.” (NLT)

May God help us to be mighty in the tasks He has called us to accomplish.

Sincerely,
J-D Lussier, Principal
